Bert’s brother-in-law works out of his trailer, which has an A/C unit that needs fixing. His brother-in-law gets full service from Kalos for the full price because everyone in Bert’s family pays full price for A/C EXCEPT for his mom. While at the house, Bert meets his niece and nephew as well as their dog and ducks. He also introduces us to the A/C unit with a very loud motor.
The A/C in the trailer is on the roof, so Bert climbs on top of the trailer and takes the unit apart. Bert’s brother-in-law’s trailer A/C unit is a very compact unit with a capillary tube metering device. The compressor also has a thermal overload switch that attaches at the top of the compressor and breaks the common in the case of an overheated compressor.
The compressor isn’t starting, and the wiring diagram shows that the compressor wires a start assist. Bert checks for the start assist inside the trailer. Bert checks the voltage going to the compressor from the board, and he gets nothing. One of the wires at the thermal overload is melted, and the terminal is rusty, so there’s likely not enough of a connection to start the compressor. Bert uses a compressor terminal kit and tightens the screw to make sure the terminal connection is tight and reliable.
Bert also enjoys visiting his family to get food. During his long lunch, he also receives a special bonus speech from his sister and learns a new word to add to his vocabulary.
Adding the compressor terminal kit solves the problem; the trailer A/C starts running again. Bert reassembles the unit and closes out the call.
