Matt Risinger from the Build show on YouTube talks to Bryan about why he uses dehumidification in his homes and why he takes it so seriously. Matt is a contractor in Houston, TX, and he knows that customers buy comfort in humid climates.

Equipment sizing helps a lot with proper dehumidification, especially when you have VRF equipment. However, humid climates present additional moisture and comfort challenges that HVAC equipment alone may not be able to solve. So, you may need secondary devices to control the latent load independently.

Customers who experience comfort problems may be surprisingly willing to buy devices that control humidity independently. Contractors can ask customers about their comfort to begin the conversation and introduce the possibility of secondary dehumidification. Dehumidification also has the potential to improve customer health by reducing bacterial and fungal growth inside the home.

Standalone dehumidification devices can also control humidity without the A/C, meaning that vacation homeowners can save money when they aren’t currently occupying a house.
