Intelligent Valve Retrofit Kit

The Emerson White-Rodgers Intelligent Valve Retrofit Kit (50I56D-905) is designed for ICP and Lennox single-stage PSC furnaces that have the 1st-generation (tan cover) SmartValve. It’s a cost-competitive, comprehensive solution to upgrade SmartValve systems to a reliable standard IP gas valve and 120V HSI.

The complete kit includes a new gas valve, control board, combination ignitor, and flame sensor, meaning you only have to carry one of these kits on your truck instead of several different parts. It also comes with a 5-year warranty.

NOTE: This product is not designed for the 2nd-generation SmartValve (gray cover), as it has additional safety circuits connected to the SmartValve.

He notes that systems that have been in operation pose unique challenges due to refrigerant dissolved in the oil, which can significantly increase vacuum time.

The podcast then covers the “one hose method” for pulling vacuum, detailing the process of using a single large hose connected to the suction side with the core removed, while placing the micron gauge on the liquid side.
