First, you have to read and agree to the end-user license agreement. Once you accept the terms, you should be able to download the software in a .zip file. You can use a file unzipper like Winzip or WinRAR, but you can also right-click the .zip file and extract all of the files to the TSTAT folder on the USB drive. (If you haven’t already put the TSTAT folder on the USB drive, do that and extract the files to that folder.) Ensure that all of the files have made it into the TSTAT folder after extraction.
Return to the thermostat. In menu mode, hold down the “Service” button for a while to enter the installation & service mode. Scroll down to “software upgrade.” You will see some text prompting you to insert the USB device. After inserting the flash drive, you will receive some confirmation text informing you about the upgrade and asking if you want to proceed. Select “Yes,” and the thermostat will upload the software upgrade to its system. When finished, you will select the “Done” button and wait for the control to restart. Then, the software update will be completed.
