The 500 square-feet-per-ton crowd is deathly afraid of undersizing. Of course, no one wants to have to go back and replace equipment because it can’t heat or cool a house sufficiently. But oversizing equipment, especially in humid climates, comes with some serious drawbacks, too. In this session, Dr. Allison Bailes will explore the range of heating and cooling equipment sizing, exploring the consequences at different levels. Then, he’ll put that in the context of the ACCA Manual S limits and show data from homes with equipment that’s undersized relative to the Manual J loads.
